Our Daily Bread for OWH for June

This months challenge is to make a card using die cuts. I won't say this is my best use of die cuts or punches but it is what it is! I used Spellbinders to cut and mat the main image. Punches for the sentiment. I don't know who makes the stamps, bought them at my LSS. Again horrible pictures. One day I will follow that OWH tutorial and make a photo box and learn how to take pictures! This card was made for a dancer's birthday but plan to make several more for OWH but need to find a perfect sentiment first! You can see the fabulous entries Here

Couldn't figure out the kite

Well, I'm kite challenged. I couldn't figure out the dimensions so I made a pinwheel instead. <sigh>

I sent in a big box of cards about three weeks ago and I think my mojo went with it sadly. Well, between having the stomach flu followed by a trip out of town and then getting wicked respiratory crud there is no mojo. Boo hoo! Perhaps next week. And maybe one day I will figure out how to blog!!!

OWH sketch challenge 214

So, I saw the sketch, I envisioned the sketch and then I came up with this which I absolutely hate! Ha! So why Am I sharing it? So I can remember that not all my ideas are goods ones! I came across the patterned paper while cleaning and thought they would go well together. Um, nope! So will I put this in my OWH box? No way! Will I send it to a family member for their birthday? Absolutely! No wasting of cards here, but only the best for our troops! So without further blabbering here is my failure of a card for today's sketch that took me way too long to make! If you would like to see cards that actually look good, go check them out Here!

OWH Sketch challenge 210

Well here it is, the last card for the super card bowl, created prior to the kick off where the Seattle Seahawks are playing for all the money and all the glory. Go Hawks! Oh, back to the card bowl, today we are to follow the sketch given. The measurements didn't work out so after I had cut everything out I realized it was wrong and had to improvise with what I had left since the paper was already cut. Oh well! My vision and my card are nothing alike since I'm in the middle of moving stuff and can't find what I want. Perhaps this will inspire me to finally finish the job I started!

Here is the Link, I hope!

And her is my card. Not thrilled with it though. The papers are from my stash and SU. The stamp is SU, the stickers are from my stash. I did get a sweet camera for Christmas but I haven't figured out how to get the pictures off the camera yet, made my photo place, etc so this is a phone shot. One day I will get the hang of this blog thing, I hope!

Our Daily Bread February challenge

Today's challenge for Operation Write Home is sponsored by Our Daily Bread Design. They sponsor two card boxes for the troops if enough cards are linked up. This month the challenge is to create using the colour Brown, and doubly to make a card for boys or men. I used the Stampin Up set Moose You, the colours were Chocolate Chip ink and paper and Crumb Cake paper. Other papers were from Studio Calico, I think! Here is the

OWH card bowl

In honour of the Super Bowl there is a card bowl happening at Operation Write Home. You can see details here. Here's the link, I hope! Tonight we have been asked to create a card using the colours, logo, or whatever of the team you are rooting for. I'm in, as in Seahawks 12th man. So I chose to use the Seahawks colours. I didn't want to make a football theme card though since when this gets to the Middle East it will likely not be football season any longer. So, I chose to dress up my Ciara stamp in Seahawks colours. I don't like my sentiment on it because I'm reorganizing my stamp area from one location to another and I can't find my other sentiment stamps. And I'm realizing I need more that say Love, Miss You, etc. Time to do a sentiment search on-line I guess. Anyways, here is my sample, with a sentiment that I will likely change. When I adhered the rest of it I thought it would work but there is too much blue showing and I'm going to have to change it to make me happy!

Note: I still don't know how to work this whole blog thing.

OWH Our Daily Bread Design for January

I still haven't figured out how to edit my blog, how to input a decent photo, how to edit things to make sense but.....I wanted to link my card for the Our Daily Bread Design for OWH. This challenge is to use stripes.

I co-teach a daily bible study class for teens. One of those young men suffered the loss of his father on Christmas Day. It was a sudden loss with no prep that may have made it a bit easier, although losing your father as a teenage boy on Christmas Day to death is not ever going to be easy. That said we start class again tomorrow and I thought of bringing one card for all to sign but decided a bunch of cards would be better. I decided on simple cards with no embellishment. Several used striped paper. I chose the stripes because they are masculine and they would help meet the ODBD challenge to pay for shipment of 2 boxes of cards for the troops. So, here it is, simple but with love to a young man who suffered a horrible loss. I'm significantly older than a teenager but still have both my parents and am so grateful for that.

Sorry for all the mess in the background. Like I said, I still don't know how to edit photos etc.
